Alabama Dumpster Service, LLC was a start up family owned company, which was
formed January 1, 2000. The company was formed to take advantage of a
striving market that was shoeing significant problems in terms of quality
customer satisfaction. The original owners were Earl L. Dansby (father) and
C. Ladon Dansby (son). In the beginning the father and son duo relied on
friends and local contacts for their customer basis. At that time the
company had one frontload truck an one delivery truck that was made out of a
farm hay hauling body and two employees. Both father and son worked many
late nights to make sure orders where completed and equipment was running in
perfect condition.
In May of 2001 another member of the family bought
ownership in the company and became a additional employee of the company.
That member was Michael T. Dansby (son). The father and son trio put their
heads together an developed a business plan that would shape the company to
become a big player in the central Alabama waste disposal market. The plan
was fueled by a competitor being overtaken by financial strains and the
inability to recover. Alabama Dumpster Service, LLC at that time was wanting
to increase their operation size by 40 – 50%, and fortunately the company
was in a position to take advantage of the fallen company and purchased two
trucks and several roll-off containers.
The company in January 1, 2002 started an additional
profit center by providing portable restrooms for construction sites and
some special events. The first year of providing restrooms Alabama Dumpster
Service, LLC placed nearly one hundred units on construction sites and
provided for many special events. Today the company has 3 pump trucks and
over 700 restrooms in service.
The hauling side of the company was proceeding fairly
well as scheduled according to the business plan but, the company was
hindered by local landfills closing to early in the day. This was causing
the company to hire additional manpower and purchase more equipment. The
acquisition of a C & D landfill in May 2003 helped the company to add a
additional profit center, save cost on disposal fees, and not be regulated
by closing times of other landfills.
As everyone in the southeast was effected by the
hurricanes of 2005, Alabama Dumpster Service, LLC had the opportunity to
help the feeble victims and devastated communities along the gulf coast
region. The company formed a response team to provided portable restrooms,
restroom trailers, shower trailers and debris removal equipment for
individuals, churches, and local business. The response team was dispatched
and on site with a matter of days after the hurricanes. Because of the
determination, work ethic and respect for their customers, Alabama Dumpster
Service, LLC was awarded by the Chamber of Commerce of Montgomery, Al., “The
Emerging Business Award” of 2005.
Today, Ladon Dansby acts as the President and CEO of Alabama Dumpster
Service, LLC and Michael Dansby acts as the CFO and President of Market
Development. Earl Dansby has since retired and is enjoying life with is
lovely wife and three grandchildren. The company has grown from two vehicles
in their fleet to fifteen vehicle and several pieces of heavy landfill
equipment. The company is staying on course with their original business
plan and the future looks terrific. |
